Bosses don’t like to talk “money” with their employees.  Employees don’t like to talk about “money” with their bosses.  It is a wonder that anything ever gets accomplished by either the bosses or employees when it comes to “pay”!

While bosses should never take advantage of an employee who may not be knowledgeable about negotiating “pay”, some do.  But when they do, the gain is very short-term.  Gaining a new employee at a low wage may look good in the beginning, but when the employee realizes what has happened, resentment that will never reverse sets in.  The feeling is that “You are taking advantage of me.  Just wait and I will be gone to an employer who has not taken advantage of me!”  But employees will rarely tell their boss that.
