Source is Sustainable…

Soul Plan

Ending the month of June and beginning the month of July marks the end of the first half of this year 2018.  Everything does not always go as planned, one day can be great, and the next day can be less than great.

As you begin this week, with a holiday smack dab in the middle, you may feel discombobulated by the craziness of the days with people on vacation and many feel that moving forward we are on the downside of the summer.

It is hard to plan your life on a week such as this, but maybe it is time to stop the planning and begin to trust your life for it will unfold with or without a plan.  It is also the end of a month and the beginning of a month financially.  This alone can drive folks a little crazy trying to get a handle on their money.

No matter how the week and the month unfolds for your life and your money, keep this in mind.  No matter what, Source (aka Inner Being, Soul, God,  and more) is Sustainable.  Maybe, it is time to slow down on action and begin to “listen” to your Source.  This is also the seat of your intuition, which is the culmination of everything you know and have experienced in your life.  “Listening” to Source and Intuition, some may call it “gut feelings” rightfully so, can open your mind, your heart, and life to new things.  But it also brings you back to a concept I developed as my “core values” several years ago.

CORE VALUES ______November 2013 jpg

Our primal instinct directs us to become “personally sustainable”.  Maslow addressed this with his hierarchy of needs many years ago.  If we can “listen” to Source to follow what we need to do with life and with money to become “personally sustainable”, our next logical step is to create a sustainable environment for our family unit, no matter how it is structured.  From there, the simple approach is to have a family unit which can influence the creation of a “sustainable community”, no matter how small or large, no matter if it is a geographical, religious, educational, or similar community.  From there, it is an understandable leap to create “environmental sustainability” for it is inherent within each of us to care for our “home” large or small.  And the Earth is our home.  This is basic.  For each of us it can become simplistic or complicated, but, no matter Source is Sustainable.

This week, take a little time each day to listen to Source in terms of your life and all that goes with it including money.  Trust Source and trust your soul for there has been a plan specifically for you all along, now is the time to “listen” to what that plan is.

As a Participant in Life, Be the Light

love-and-light

So you are back, and on a Friday!  You have accepted to RSVP to life, and now you are building your Personal Sustainability from the ground up.  You know when Maslow created his Pyramid of Needs he started with the basics of food, clothing, and shelter.  Very wise since there have been those I have experienced who started at the very top of the pyramid to focus on their spiritual growth first.  That may appear wise, but it was those same people who found themselves homeless with very little resources.  Begin at the beginning, and that is where we are heading, but in the meantime consider that you can be the light reflecting a spiritual path.  Life is a transition continually, and I have surely found that my spiritual growth has been a light in the dark many times as I have moved on down the road.  So be drawn to your own spiritual light and to others who may need your light and find that they may very well add to your light and to your journey in this transition called Life.  Thanks for RSVPing.

Have You Ever Met Abraham Harold Maslow?

“…almost all needs can be satisfied in a variety of ways.”

Born in 1908 in Brooklyn, New York, a graduate of City College in New York, Abraham Maslow completed graduate and post-Master’s work in psychology with a focus on experimental-behaviorist psychology.

Inspired by a vision of peace, he pursued his studies of self-actualizing people. It became his basis for his lifelong thinking and research not only about mental health but also human potential. Self-actualization simply means that people desire to reach their full potential.

He went on to create his Hierarchy of Needs as a visual aid to explain the levels of psychological and physical needs of humans on their path to reaching their full potential of becoming self-actualized. His Hierarchy of Needs can be found in thousands of basic textbooks, and I am not here to discuss Maslow, but it is the basis of what I see as the human needs starting with basic physical needs, safety, LOVE, and self-esteem.

These are the needs that come with the birth of every human being.

Once these needs are satisfied, then, and only then, can anyone move forward in their life and approach self-actualization.

Why is this important in the discussion of money in our stories of life?

Because without the strong foundation based on self-esteem our life story with money will be confusing and unstable.

As the current song lyric goes, “the story of my life…”, and when it comes to money, you do have a story of your life with money. Think about it.Lucy-van-pelt-1-

What Does Maslow Have To Do With Money?

Everything and Nothing all at the same time, that is what Maslow has to do with MONEY!

With Maslow’s Pyramid of Needs, one can find a basic flow of needs from the basic to the sublime; however, many find that they are in the transcending area of the sublime but in reality cannot support their basic needs…

Have you ever known someone like that — kind of living on the belief that they are where they need to be when in reality they are living in a house of cards — one strong buffet of wind, and down the whole thing goes!

Maslow works from Physical Needs and Safety up to Self Esteem…Self Esteem should be at the base, we are born with self-esteem, it is the world — family, peers, religion, schools, media and more– that erodes it.

Think about it, with self-esteem in tact, all things ARE possible….Image
