Why Did I Choose Pampered Chef?

And why did I choose to be Pampered Chef “healthy”?

  Pampered Chef is all about food.  It is all about healthy food and learning to cook healthy food with quality cooking utensils and tools and serving pieces.  People of all ages will tell me that they do not cook; but they do have to eat.  So what are they eating?  Fast food, processed food, take out food?  And, if they do not cook, they may also be stressed because they are not practicing self-care.  Stressed because they do not make the time for themselves.  

One of my reasons for beginning the foundation I am building with Pampered Chef is to help women who are returning to the workforce–or need to return to the workforce–after years of raising a family, working in a level below their skills and financial requirements.  Women, many times, have dropped out of the workforce to raise families and tend to decades-old marriages, and then they are faced with the death or departure of a spouse leaving them financially devastated.  And more than that, they are left with very low self esteem.  

Yes, it is my intention to build an intentional team, and on the way, team members will have socialization, specialization as a “consultant”, and an opportunity to build a business that fits whatever they would like it to be.  And it can be a lot.  I am taking my time to make sure that I build a foundation for me that is solid, that will help me help others learn to cook, and then it will also help me build a good environment for women to succeed.  And, yes, I will succeed, as well.

And even more, I chose to call my business Pampered Chef “healthy” because I do depart from the tenets that Pampered Chef has been known to promote including use of the microwave and processed foods.  Pampered Chef allows me to cook “healthy” without those two elements.  Having said that, in my short tenure with Pampered Chef, I have seen changes happening:  healthier recipes, with more vegan and vegetarian choices, and still a focus on families–no matter the makeup or sizes, including a line of offerings focusing on children, which has been been proven that teaching children to cook, leads them to cooking and more self care as they grow and mature.

I have also chosen Pampered Chef because I am learning to love doing virtual Facebook parties, and I am exploring other social avenues as well.  Yes, I would love to do in home parties now that I am more confident about the products and recipes, and that will happen!  But Pampered Chef allows me to build my business my way!  I am taking it slow, I am taking it sure, and I am making a path for Pampered Chef in my portfolio of offerings to focus on my business The Empower Excellence Experience:  Personal Sustainability.  Personal Sustainability really resides in the basic level of Maslow’s Pyramid of Needs:  food, shelter, and basic needs.  That is where I am today focusing with Pampered Chef on a basic need.  My energy will flow where it is needed in this quest because my intention is clear, and the Universe will work with me on the way to making others successful while finding the light and energy of success in my own way. 

My New Most Favorite Book! Food, Cleveland Food, Heinen’s…

OMG, I love this book…It is so full of  wonderfulness!  Michael Ruhlman is a local Cleveland guy!  Michael Ruhlman writes and writes about food!  But this book is so perfectly on target as I have found my way to Oberlin and am finding my way to being Healthy with local food and sustainability.  Please do not get tired of my references to the book.  It is well worth reading and owning if you care about the food you eat and the food you feed your family!  

As a Consultant with Pampered Chef and my quote of “I am Pampered Chef “Healthy”,  I really believe the path to health for all of us is taking matters into our own hands and “COOKING”.  It is the only way to control what you put into your body.  But you need quality in your cooking tools, and Pampered Chef does that as well as giving you reasonable recipes, not all that require the microwave.  I am a believer, and I will be a believer as a cook.  Understand my children grew up with THE SUPERMARKET HANDBOOK being read to them in the grocery store!  Cooking is not stressful for me, it is a stress reducer, it is creative, it is right brain!

Michael Ruhlman shares a poignant line in his book when people tell him that they do not have time to cook.  He agrees with me that the only way for us to be healthy is to cook healthy.  There are “long-term benefits of carving out the time to cook.  That’s all it really is: being organized and making time.  You never hear people say “You know I would really love to shower more, but I just don’t have the time.”

Really?  

 

And Doreen Virtue Ratifies My Choice, Again!

Since I have given up the local printed media because it is OLD news and a waste of time amid negative vibrations, I no longer have the daily newspaper for my horoscope, but my virtual friend Doreen Virtue’s daily angel card messages are much more welcome and so true for me so many times.  But, unlike a horoscope, Doreen’s messages are now coming after I make decisions, which really serves me as a ratification of those decisions.  Nice!

But it is getting little unsettling.  On September 8th I made my decision to expand Empower Excellence to The Empower Excellence Experience when I move to Oberlin, which will include among several new programs, a cooking program using the produce of local farmers to display how to use local produce at the seasonal farm markets, and the idea was shared with several folks at that time.    And then yesterday, on Monday, September 19th, Doreen’s angel messages focused on Healthful Eating.  OMG, here we go again.  

Her post actually asks “Do you feel ready to make this commitment?”  She goes on to say that “Remember that true healthful eating is built upon basics such as fresh organic produce that you can buy inexpensively at farmers markets….”

Yes, I am already a healthy eater, but this is a unique idea that has just been moved forward by this message.  I am grateful for the ideas that are part of my mission, and there is so much in my past that supports this food segment of my future.  It is exciting, and it is my mission among all of the programs of The Empower Excellence Experience.  And I am grateful for the inspiration and for the ratification…It is exactly this that keeps the weirdness in my life moving forward!

But, I must say that I am not weird.  In the book ORIGINALS by Adam Grant, he shares that being an original is “risky business” because originals are going against the grain when they introduce a “fresh” initiative in an inventive capacity.  Welcome to my life. I have always had a choice to be a conformist or be an original.  The cooking shows using local food from the farmers at the farmers markets is a better option, and I do take radical risks.  I follow my mission, I follow my intuition, and I know Divine Guidance is with me as I walk through the Universe!

The Empower Excellence Experience 2017 is Going Back to Our Roots…

In 2011, as an active participant in Sustainable Cleveland, I had the good fortune to meet Woody Tasch, venture capitalist and author of SLOW MONEY, as he presented at the Cleveland annual summit.  It set off a path that led to a group in Ohio and in Cleveland focused on SLOW MONEY, investing in the earth by supporting local food entrepreneurs.  That chapter for me came to a conclusion as the Cleveland group had found investable money, created a website, and an advisory group.  Their future path is no longer part of my portfolio, but it ignited a fire within me that has been dormant for almost two years.  

But my evolution has continued with Empower Excellence during those years, and it continues to move ahead.  In 2017 it is my intention to move to Oberlin, ironically the location that led me to really become involved in local food.  Their aspirations through the Oberlin Project include more local food produced and consumed in the Oberlin area.  Truly local food.  

Oberlin has been my destination for a while, and my vision of me in Oberlin is a quieter but more involved version of Empower Excellence now lovingly referred to as The Empower Excellence Experience.  There is much to share at a later time about that evolution.  It is truly exciting and has really excited my soul!  

But on September 8th, I attended a dinner cooking party.  Not my usual activity, but there is always a reason for everything happening in my life.  By the end of the evening, with the help of my hostess and encouragement from other guests, an idea had hatched that I fell in love with.  It was something that touched my heart and soul so much that in the words of Tama Kieve this morning it caused me to “delve into a project with savage devotion, leaving no room for questions.”  

Beginning in the Spring, I hope to be a part of the Oberlin Farm Market doing mini cooking shows weekly using the produce of the other vendors, truly promoting good, local produce as local as it can be short of going to farms all around the area.  Yes, there is more, but that is the kernel of the idea.  I am exploring my participation in the market, but today, I love the idea so fully, that I truly believe that it is being prepped by the Universe with me.  You see, everyone’s experience with empowering excellence begins with health, it begins with good, healthy, local food.  I can be of help to the local food producers while helping local residents who attend the weekly farm market to have fun using the local produce.  I am excited, and I cannot wait to share that happiness about this idea.  Food makes people happy–growing it, cooking it, and eating it for happiness comes from other people sharing life with each other, and that is a part of the Empower Excellence Experience.  Stay tuned…

MONEY Makes Me Come Alive!

OK, LET’S GET THIS STRAIGHT…  I AM QUITE ALIVE WITH OR WITHOUT MONEY N MY LIFE, BUT THERE IS DEFINITELY A SPRING IN MY STEP WHEN THE SUN IS OUT LIKE IT IS TODAY IN OHIO AND I AM OUT RUNNING ERRANDS AND FEELING FREE OF MONEY WORRIES.  IT DEFINITELY MAKES A DIFFERENCE, AND I HAVE FOUND THAT NO MATTER HOW LITTLE OR HOW MUCH MONEY I HAVE, IT IS MY ATTITUDE ABOUT MONEY THAT PUTS THE BOUNCE IN MY STEP.  I LOVE COOKING, AND COOKING FOR ME IS A STRESS RELIEVER.  SO IF I CAN GO OUT AND BUY INGREDIENTS FOR A NEW RECIPE, I AM VERY, VERY MUCH ALIVE.  YES, MONEY TOUCHES OUR LIVES IN ALL AREAS–HEALTH, FOOD, AND SO MUCH MORE.  BUT, IF I DO NOT COOK, I BEGIN TO FEEL DEPRIVED, AND IT MAY VERY WELL HAVE TO DO WITH THE EFFECT THAT FOOD HAS ON ANYONE’S LIFE.  IF WE EAT HEALTHY, WE FEEL BETTER.  IF WE COOK HEALTHY, WE FEEL BETTER.  SO, YES, MONEY DOES MAKE ME COME ALIVE WHEN I CAN SPEND IT ON TRYING A NEW RECIPE.

THE DOUBLE COME ALIVE HAPPENS WHEN THE RECIPE IS A GOOD ONE, AND THEN I CAN PLAN TO SERVE IT TO FAMILY AND GUESTS!  EVERYTHING COMES ALIVE THEN!
