Have you ever thought about this? The U.S. government has lumped the oversight of the food we eat and the drugs we take into one big agency; and it seems that neither area is getting its due respect! And, I am sure, that of over 10,000 lobbyists in Washington, D.C. with only 500+ elected officials there., the odds are kind of screwed up!
And still there is no reliable source of information on food. In the mid 1970’s margarine became “bad”, and I agree with that. Anything made with any type of chemicals is not meant to be put into the human body on a regular basis. That is my opinion, and it was my opinion then. And yet, very recently, margarine is being proclaimed better for you than butter. I am not going to cite sources because it is my belief that many doctors and most disease-based research groups are not reliable. All you have to do is look at who is paying the bills for the lobbyists, for commercial advertising, and more. It is now totally up to each and every consumer of food, and we all are pretty much in that category, to learn as much as they can about what they need, what they believe, and to follow it. We are a nation that is being defeated by obesity and its causes. We have to demand more reliable medical trials regarding food and stop believing everything we are told. The current situation is unacceptable. No one knows what is right and wrong today!
